December 2018 – Playlist

Årets sista playlist är ett faktum. Ska också försöka få ihop en Best Of 2018 så fort som möjligt. Men här finns alltså mina decembersånger. Drygt 100 låtar från månaden som gått, i vått och grått.            December 2018

1. Tomma Intet – Falling from the edge of the world

Den av bröderna Felice som klarar sig bäst på egen hand. Fin singer songwriter americana.

2. Simone Felice – The Projector

Har musicerat hela millenniet och släppt 4 album under namnet S. Oftast handlar det om sovrumsinbandad melankolisk gitarrpop.

3. Jenn Champion – O.M.G (I’m all over it)

Mängder av känslor kanaliseras i denna androgyna singer songwriter -varelse.

4. Lawrence Rothman – Decade

Fösta soloplattan sedan 2004. Det låter Talking Heads över hela det fantastiska spektaklet.

5. David Byrne – Everybody’s coming to my house

Lykke Li goes hippiefolk.

6. Liv – Wings of love

En ny Michael Kiwanuka? uppvuxen i Nairobi. I februari kommer debutalbumet!!

7. J.S. Ondara – Saying goodbye.

En brittisk brödraduo med rötterna i gamla brittakter som Echo And The Bunnymen och The Essex Green.

8. Sonny Elliot – Under covers

9. Klara & Jag – Fake it ‘til you make it

Drömsk indieduo från Montreal

10. Sorry Girls – Waking up

och där tonar 2018 ut. December 2018.

På med lurarna och sök fram nya smultron. 2019 kommer bli ett fantastiskt musikår. Broken Bells, Chain Wallet från Norge, JR JR, Kaah, Lana Del Rey och Toro y Moi är bara några som redan släppt aptitretare inför det nya året.

Indie folk from Calgary. If you’re not familiar with the band, there’s a lot of catching up to do. Their first album Songbook is from 2006. And it’s good by the way.

3. Pop Etc – Please don’t forget me
Formerly known as the Morning Benders. In this shape they hit a perfect melodic nerve.

 

 

4. EXEC – Explanatory Gap
Antony And The Johnsons would be proud… or envious. Emotional piano ballads from Denmark.

 
5. Plume Of Feathers – First date
Now we’re making the whole of old indie-England proud. Love this. Listen to ”Anders from Iceland” and ”The Bar from the halt” as well.

 

 

6. Foxes – Amazing
Saw her on Provinssi Festival last summer. She was great. Pure pop!

 

 

7. Sivert Hoyem – Sleepwalking man
The Norwegian maestros album Lioness is out now.

Step inside the indie pop time machine, and step out in Denmark!

 

 

9. Anders Enda Barnet – I was quiet back then
If you remember swedish The Plan and Moneybrother. Here’s the backwash, the diamond from the ashes or whatever. Swedish west coast pop.

 
10. High Highes – Cascades
Aussie melodic pop trio

 

 

11. Idiot Glee – Evergreen psycho
James Friley solo project.

 
12. Junior Boys – Over it
Yes! New Juior Boys album is here. Big black coat. This track and ”Baby give up on it” are worth while.

 
13. Tear Concil – My Car

Avant-garde pop from Sunderland.

 

 

15. The Lemons – JJ’s house
So charming. Here’s their own story; ”Five or eight friends who have nothing better to do than eat healthy foods and have healthy conversations and then sing a bunch of gibberish until they fall down laughing.”

Great summer song from Canadian five-piece indie poppers.
11. Yukon Blonde – Como

 
Authentic 60’s sound from Tokyo Police Club frontman. Another summer song that could’ve been a forgotten Monkees song.
12. Dave Monks – The rules

 

 

Manchesters contribution to the music scene. I like the album ”Get to heaven”. Not just plain pop. It’s a bit art, a bit avant-garde even, and still catchy when the chorus hits you.
